About the Job

  • This is a permanent full-time position.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • You are responsible for performing all carpentry labor on the job, requesting help as it is needed.  When other carpenters or helpers are on your job, you are responsible for assigning them work, expediting their performance and generally supervising them, including expediting their paperwork (Time cards, etc.).
  • You will schedule and coordinate all subcontractors, in consultation with the project manager, work out their layout problems, ensure their proper performance and approve their payment, as well as ensure that they get timely inspections on their work.  It is your responsibility to be sure that all subcontractors adhere to all of our company’s policies concerning safety, cleanliness, alcohol use, and customer satisfaction.
  • The lead carpenter will prepare the final material takeoffs and order materials promptly and accurately.  With at least 24 hours notice, we can minimize or eliminate material runs by company employees.  All material orders are to go through the project manager to ensure cost control.  Carpenters or helpers may pick up materials only under emergency conditions.
  • You must maintain a clean work site.  This is important for many reasons, among them safety and efficiency.  A sloppy site reflects badly on your work and our company.  Dust protection of the client’s property is one of your most important jobs.  Be sure to control any mud on your site.  All job sites are to be broom-cleaned daily.  Debris is to be properly stored and hauled away promptly.  You must have the client’s permission before smoking on the site.  It is also your responsibility to monitor smoking by subcontractors on your site as well.
  • Maintain clean and tidy job premises at all times, including dust protection, daily cleanup, organized tool and material storage, weekly trash removal, and final clean up.

  • Maintain all personal and company tools.
  • Interact with customers to ensure their satisfaction.
  • Have knowledge of labor costs and control throughout the project.

  • Protect all of the customer’s property.
  • Be able to lift and use safely all tools and materials necessary in the construction trade.
  • Know all shut-off locations for electrical, gas, water, security, sprinkler systems, etc.
  • Keep job equipment on site and in good working order.

  • Through careful planning and foresight, notify the production manager in advance of impending material and subcontracted service requirements.
  • The lead carpenter shall be responsible for the advance scheduling of all necessary inspections in order to maintain the project schedule.  Follow-up on inspections to confirm successful outcomes.
