We’ve all been there: you’re tired of your kitchen. It’s getting out of date, and you’re not excited when you see it. The time has come for a refresh. Not necessarily a complete overhaul, but definitely something better. However, you have the same question many families have: can you update your kitchen without breaking the bank? The answer is a resounding “yes!” This budget-friendly kitchen remodel project might be just the thing to inspire you.

Is it possible to create the right balance between an amazing kitchen renovation and a cost-conscious budget? The Lellbach Builders team designed the perfect allocation of style to meet this kitchen’s cost requirements.  But how do you deliver a “WOW” kitchen with a budget friendly design?

It’s easy! Well, maybe not easy, but definitely doable, and probably easier than you might think.

Step 1: Approach your project as a renovation, not a full blown remodel. A renovation revives the space to a new state. A remodel generally involves reconfiguring the entire space.

Step 2: Plan on updating finishes, and taking care of necessary repairs, while replacing cabinets and countertops. This combo approach helps save cost over the life of the project.

Step 3: Don’t move walls and reconfigure the space. A kitchen remodel is ideal if you need to enlarge a room, but not a must for just an update.

Step 4: Limit changes to electrical and plumbing, but update appliances. Costs can quickly climb when you start dreaming of new lighting, wiring, sinks, appliances, etc.

Kitchen Remodeling on a Budget

For this Naperville family, a kitchen remodel on a budget was absolutely necessary. But to see their updated space, you’d never know. Their new kitchen has everything they wanted, with a design that wows.

A beverage/coffee bar was created by moving the refrigerator to an adjacent wall, but no other changes to the existing kitchen shell were made. The soffits remained in place, lighting location didn’t change, and the kitchen sink and oven remained in the original location. These decisions created zero impact on the budget, allowing greater allowances for the selection of cabinetry, finishes, and fixtures.

The new cabinets and fixtures? What a difference! Without the before & after, you might not even know it was the same home. Painted wood cabinets brighten the kitchen while adding contrast to the warm wood oak floors. Carrara marble style quartz countertops enhance durability with an understated aesthetic. The subway tile backsplash, in a gray glazed porcelain finish, adds a feeling of spaciousness and light reflection.

Stainless appliances offer a neutral, timeless finish, which beautifully accents the classic color scheme. Wrapping the peninsula with shiplap subtly adds design interest, while protecting the wall from wandering feet and furniture legs. Touches of maintenance-friendly black accessories and hardware provide distinctive finishing touches!

This kitchen went from everyday to stunning, while still remaining budget-friendly.
